little accident

After refilling, at Barstow CA, we left for Lancaster, the last leg.
I took Scott Hansen's silver 69, while Bill Gottschalk took my 73E.
Well finally we ran into trouble. Bill said that coming down the hill on the highway toward Victorville, he lost power in my car. He pulled over, called us, we came back. Dave Conklin threw a flare onto the slow lane to keep traffic away from us, but it rolled into the 2nd lane (so at least traffic was well aware of us).
Anway, I called AAA ready to tow, but we got it started. We decided to pull onto the next exit, off the highway, and check it out. We did this, and felt that it was fuel pump related. As the car was still working, we headed for the rest of the crew, 3 exits down, in Victorville. We got there, pulled over, and decided to jack the car up, and fix the car by getting a replacement pump at AutoZone ($53.99 ...lucky I have carbs and not MFI as chances of finding an MFI pump at 7pm are nil). Ed Mayo helped by Aaron Winans, swapped in a new pump, and after one little hiccup, we were off and running. It was good enough for the track and was no hindrance at all. Following day, Dave Bouzaglou's guys at TRE sorted it out with some new hose, and tidied up our road job. Thanks Ed, Aaron .... and Dave @TRE and his guys Vic/Ase.
